MAURICEVILLE
FORESTERS’ LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of Court Kopuaranga, A.0.F., was held in the Lodge Room, Mauriceville West, on Saturday evening. Bro. C. H. Seymour, C.R., presided over a good attendance of members. A circular letter dealing with the Social Security Act was received from the district office and was fully discussed. Bro. Seymour reported on the district annual conference held recently in Wellington. The quarterly balance sheet was read and adopted. Bro. K. L. Palmer was presented by the Chief Ranger with a P.C.R's. ribbon and framed certificate. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, May 27. Women’s Institute. Mr A. Forsberg presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting held in the Mauriceville East Hall on Tuesday afternoon. The balance sheet for the dance held recently was read and A new member was welcomed. Mrs O. Nikolaison read a very interesting report of the Federation meeting held in Masterton. The birthday celebration of the Institute is to take the form of a concert and dance to be held in the Mauriceville East Hall on June 14. Mrs J. Baine gave an interesting account of a trip up the Wanganui River. The competition for the best bloom was won by Miss J. Larson with Mrs Freeman second. The potato competition was won by Mrs A. Forsberg with 2811bs. Mrs C. M. Childs gave a very interesting and informative talk on the English language. Personal. Mr and Mrs W. Gray, of Matiere, are the guests of Mrs O. Larson, Mauriceville West. The friends of Mrs Bray will be sorry to hear that her son Ron has had to enter the Wellington Hospital for treatment.
