$ COARSE CROSSBRED IN DEMAND PRICES FOR MERINO FALL. SOME WAIRARAPA REALISATIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 11.50 a.m.) LONDON, May 2. The third series of London wool sales opened today, an offering of 9,548 bales including 5,561 from New Zealand. Of the total, 8,449 bales were sold. There was a good selection. Crossbreds met with strong demand from the Home trade and were Well cleared. Merihos' were frequently withdrawn owing to low bids. Compared with prices at the close of >i,,- k-si. series, line crossbreds were al p;.r. medium and coarse crossbreds to ten per cent and slipes ten to fifteen per cent higher. Merinos were at par to five per cent lower. New Zealand greasy crossbred Kourarau averaged with a top price, of HZ-d. Scoured crossbred, New Zealand, ‘\V ; ,M.A, brought lljd to 14|d; slipe halfbred combing, lambs. T.B. & S„ 101 d to 14d; slipe halfbred, lambs. Three' Crowns, 14d; slipe crossbred lambs, Three Crowns. IOJd to 15d. Messrs Levin and Co. Ltd have received the following cable from their London agents dated May 2:—'The auctions opened here today with, a large attendance of buyers. The competition was keen, mainly from the Home trade. Coarse wools show the most appreciation, ahd sliped wools generally were in good demand. As as present arranged, the sales will close oil May 11. 'Compared with the closing rates of last sale, we quote:—Greasy merino, best, unchanged; average, Unchanged; fine halfbteds, 50/56’s, Id per lb higher; extra fine crossbreds, 48/50’s ■Ad to Jd per lb higher; fine crossbreds, 46/48’s, gd per lb higher; mediuni crossbreds, 44/46’s, jd per lb higher; coarse crossbreds, 40/44’s, i|d per lb higher; low crossbreds, 36/40’s., ?d per 16 higher; slipes—fine, Id per lb higher; slipes, medium and coarse, ljd to 2d’ per lb higher.
