Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.73. Shade temperature: Maximum 54.6, minimum 45.9, terrestrial 40.2. Sunshine, 12 minutes. Rain, 1 point. Weather forecast: Wind between south and east, force mainly light to moderate, but fresh at times about Cook Strait; weather cloudy to. overcast in and east of the ranges, with scattered light rain, elsewhere fine; temperatures cold. SOLWAY RAINFALL. Mr H. M. Bodding-ton reports that rain was measured on 6 days in April, the maximum fall being 150 points on the 20th, and the minimum 5 points on the 23rd. The total for the month was 3.98 inches, as against 9.98 inches (1938), 1.32 inches (1937), 2.52 inches (1936), 2.28 inches (1935), 1.63 inches (1934); average for 36 years, 2.90 inches. The total rainfall for the four months was 5.90 inches, as compared with 21.09 inches (1938), 9.87 inches (1937), 19.65 inches (1936), 8.05 inches (1935), 11.63 inches (1934); average for 36 years, 10.85 inches. SUN. The sun rose today 6.38 a.m., sets 4.58 p.m.
