LONDON QUOTATIONS NO CHANGE IN BUTTER PRICES. CHEESE MARKET SLOW. There was no change last week ill the London price cf New Zealand butter, which, at 114 s a cwt, was still 10s 3d a cwt below the London equivalent of the guaranteed price. So far there is no sign of the usual autumn rise in price. A year ago New Zealand salted butter was selling in London at 128 s to 129 s a cWt, and it subsequently rose till the peak al 134 s was reached in May. The cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board states that the London market is slow. Friday’s quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand, salted, 114 s (114 s a year ago, 128 s to 1295); unsahed, 117 s to 118 s (118 s a year ago, 129 s to 130 s). Australian, salted, 112 s, ex 113 s (112 s to 113 s); unsalted, 114 s to 115 s (115 s to 115 s). Danisti, 105 s f.0.b.. 126 s to 127 s spot (105 s 126 s to 1275). Dutch, salted, 108 s to 109 s; unsalted. 108 s to 109 s, ex Ills (109 s to 1108). Polish, salted and unsalted, 107 s to 109 s (109 s South African 105 s to 108 s (105 s to 109 s). The retail price of New Zealand butter in London Was Is 2d, and that of Danish Is 3d a lb. The present price of 114 s for New Zealand butter is equal to approximately 13.58 d a lb f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb f.o.b. The London equivalent of the guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about (i.7d a lb f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1691 tons. The quantity in store on Friday (including 1552 tons ex Port Hunter, Empire Star, and Tongariri, of which 12,970 boxes ex Tongatiro was for east coast ports discharged at London), was 7257 tons, compared with 6119 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 1518 tons, the quantity in store being 2181 tons, as compared with 4441 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee’s estimated stocks of all butters in store is 785,620 boxes, as against 657,089 boxes a year ago. The cheese market was slow last week, New Zealand selling unchanged at 60s, as against 68s to 69s a cwt a year ago. Friday’s closing quotations with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: White, 60s (60s; a year ago, GBs to 68s 6d); coloured, 60s (60s; a year ago, 68s 6d to 695). Australian: White, 52s to 56s (62s to 565); coloured, 55s to 57s (55s to 575). 1 , * Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 74s (71s to 745); old season's, coloured, 82S (82s). English: Finest farmers’, 88s to 100 s (88s to 100 s); factory cheese, 56s (60s to 665). . South African: White and coloured, 50s to 55s (50s to 575). Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 10,989 crates. The quantity in store was 117,991 crates, as against 72,940 crates a year ago. ' Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 3618 boxes, the quantity in store being 74,928 boxes, as against 60,429 boxes a year ago. Cheese gradings in New Zealand for the week ended April 22 were 12,812 orates of white and 6680 crates of coloured, a total of 19,492 crates.
