SEASON OPENED IN AUCKLAND. WIN FOR BLOMFIELD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May 1. The wrestling season was opened in Auckland tonight, when the major attraction was the professional contest between Lofty Blomfield. Auckland, I6st 101 b. and Roland Kirchmeyer. America, 17st. The Auckland man gained the decision on points after each had obtained a fall. ; Kirchmeyer won the first fall in the third round with a "python clutch,” a specialty hold not previously seen in Auckland. It resembled a double reverse toehold, and Blomfield was quickly forced into submission. The Auckland man evened falls in the seventh round with a submission to his octopus clamp. He had much the better of the final round and this won him the decision.
