The Auckland man gained the decision on points after each had obtained a fall. ; Kirchmeyer won the first fall in the third round with a "python clutch,” a specialty hold not previously seen in Auckland. It resembled a double reverse toehold, and Blomfield was quickly forced into submission. The Auckland man evened falls in the seventh round with a submission to his octopus clamp. He had much the better of the final round and this won him the decision.
