King's Plate, 1.1 m: Spear Chief, 9.0 (McMenamin) 1; Spear Bleau. 8.13 (Hanwan) 2; Assegai, 9.0 (Horney) 3. Five lengths. Half a length. Time, 2.4. Strabroke Handicap, 6f: Bahwing. 7.10 (Briscoe) 1; First Prize, 7.0 (McCrowdie) 2; Waireka, 7.5 (Lappin) 3. Tyelve started. Head each way. Time, 1.11“ —equals race record. Limoux was unplaced in the Hamilton Handicap. MEETING AT ASCOT. MELBOURNE, April 30. At the Ascot races Namakia was unplaced in the Workingham Handicap, and Desert Chief unplaced in the Aylesford Handicap. Silver Bond was third in the Plymouth Walter Handicap.
