BANKER RETIRES

PRESENTATION TO MR. F. W DAWSON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr F. W. Dawson, general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, who retires as from May 1, yesterday received a presentation from the executive and staff. Mr' H. R. H. Chalmers, who succeeds Mr Dawson, presided. There also were present managers from Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington, ana some former officers. Mrs Dawson also was present. Mr Chalmers said Mr Dawson's long service with the bank had extended over. 47 years, and he was the first New Zealand-born general manager. He expressed the esteem in which Mr Dawson was held, his devotion to duty, his frankness and fearlessness and acute sense of justice. He left the bank with a higher reputation than it had ever had during its career. Mr P. L. Porter conveyed good wishes on behalf of the head office staff and expressed a fervent wish that Mr and Mrs Dawson might enjoy many years of good health and happiness, and have a pleasant journey overseas. They leave for London by the Rangitane ntxt week.

After other tributes. Mr Dawson was presentea with a sterling silver salver, a chiming clock and a well-filled wallet.
