WEDDINGS
MILNE—MONRO. A quiet wedding was celebrated at the residence of Mrs R. J. Barton, Pownall Street, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon when Helene Margaret, daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas D. Monro, of Lansdowne, was married to Bob, son of the late Dr A. Cuming Milne, and Mrs Milne, of Masterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev E. J. Rich. The bridesmaids were Misses Mary Monro (sister of the bride) and Mary James (cousin of the bridegroom). The best man was Mr J. Gibbons, of Dannevirke, and the groomsman Mr Peter Gibbons, of Dannevirke. Mr and Mrs Milne later left on a ihoneymoon tour of the North Island. LINDSAY—LONG. The marriage took place on Saturday ;at St Matthew’s Church, of Marjorie Wilma, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Long, of Church Street, Masterton, and John Douglas, younger son of Mrs R. E. of Wellington. The ceremony was conducted by the bride’s uncle, the Rev Canon Sykes, of Grey•town. Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming frock of :deep cream brocaded satin, cut on princess lines. the back lengthened ■ into a train. The veil was held in place by a topknot of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf of lilies, freesias and carnations. The bridesmaids were Misses Joan Long (sister of the bride) and Isabell Young (Wellington). They were dressed alike in frocks of cerise ninon cut in princess style and wore topknots of blue delphiniums and pink lilies.. Each'carried a sheaf of flowers of the same kind. The best man was Mr David Lindsay, of Dannevirke (brother of the bridegroom) and the groomsman Mi’ £. K. Long (brother of the bride). The reception was held at the Municipal Social Hall, where the guests were received by Mrs Long, who wore a golden trimmed prunella ensemble and furs, and by Mrs Lindsay, who was attired in a rust frock and furs. Each carried a posy of carnations, roses, pompom dahlias and maidenhair fern. There were over a hundred guests. When the bride left on her honeymoon she wore a brown ensemble and fox fur.
