JOCKEY INJURED

t IN STEEPLECHASE SCHOOLING AT RICCARTON. KAIPEAR ROLLS ON RIDER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The schooling of three horses over steeplechase fences at Riccarton this morning was spoilt by an accident at the double in front of the stand. J. Murfitt, one of the riders, was knocked out in a fall and was admitted to hospital in a deeply unconscious state. Up to the time the accident occurred the three horses jumped well, though Silver Sight was inclined to run down his fences. Silver Sight (A. Stove) and Courtyard (A. Leach) went off together at the top of the straight, with Kaipear (J. Murfitt) a dozen lengths behind them. Silver Sight outjumped Courtyard at most of the fences, but the latter, on the cutside running, caught up to him on the fiat. Kaipear started to overhaul the leaders going round the turn at the end of the circuit, and the three horses rose together at the top of the straight the second time. In landing, Silver Sight drew out a few lengths, but the other pair joined him again at the first double, where the trouble occurred. Silver Sight ran down the fence, cutting across Courtyard and colliding with Kaipear, before running off as a result of the collision. Kaipear fell and appeared to roll on his rider.
