GRAIN AND PRODUCE
CANTERBURY MARKETS. PEW CHANGES IN PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. There nave been few changes in the Canterbury grain and produce markets this week. Most sections are steady, with prices iirm. Onions for export are being quoted at £l6 a ton to growers, and those for the local market at £l3. It seems doubtful whether the Australian market will remain open to New Zealand onions much longer this season. Advices from Sydney, state that Egyptian onions are opening up in first-class condition, and that their quality is better than that of New Zealand onions. The opinion is expressed that unless tne price of New Zealand onions recedes, no more will be required after about tne second week in May. It is stated that purchases from Egypt have been very large. Fotatoes are still going to the North Island steadily. Prices on the local market are unchanged. There are no price changes in the small seeds markets, which are quiet. The demand from the North Island is still very small.
