STANLEY McKAY’S NEW GAIETIES. Mr Stanley McKay, the Australian entrepreneur, whose revue companies are so popular in New Zealand, is to include Masterton this year in his itinerary, arrangements having been made for the “Gaieties" to appear at the Opera House on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and fi. Mr McKay is not unknown to local audiences, as in by gone years his pantomime companies yearly played at Masterton and were greatly enjoyed. This 1939 combination of international comedians, singers, dancers, instrumentalists and acrobats is considered by the press and public of Wellington. Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedin as the best variety show ever brought to New Zealand by this management. Included in the long list of speciality artists is George Hurd. ' the international Royal Command juggling star, who has had the honour of appearing before the late King George, Queen Mary, and the present King and Queen at Windsor Castle and the Alhambra, London. Other outstanding artists are Scotty and Dolly, Australia's premier dancing duo; Nellie Kolle, famous male impersonator; San Remos Duo, matchless hand-balancers; Gerry Keogh, acrobatic dancer; Snowy Towers, mimic of screen stars; Assam. Pekoe. Souchon and Congo, crazy clowns; Stella Lamond, brilliant personality girl; and Stella Collier, soprano.' On Friday, "Life Begins at 8" is to be produced, with a complete change on Saturday starting at the matinee, Seats may be reserved at W. G. Perry’s from Tuesday next. At Saturday’s matinee numerous gifts are to be distributed to the children.
