Post office officials attending to the business of registration under the Social Security Act have had amusing interludes to lighten an unusually arduous task. Because nearly all men are automatically registered under the former employment legislation, nearly all registrations so far dealt with have been from women. There have been many amusing incidents associated with the job. One young woman, asked to fill in the section of the form which sought knowledge of her sex. wrote in "Roman Catnolic." Another simply entered the symbol "nil." One old woman, who objected altogether to the scheme, said she had come for her dog collar, and wanted her number.
