LONDON QUOTATIONS LAMB PRICES AGAIN EASIER. CHILLED BEEF FIRMER. Lamb market: Prices again easier. Consumption good, but low prices of other meat are affecting lamb prices. Mutton market: Wethers easier owing w more plentiful supplies. Ewes steady with slow trade. Beef market: Frozen beef neglected. Chilled beef slightly firmer this week, but supplies still heavy. New Zealand porker pigs: easier on the slow trade. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. Boneless veal: Steady, with firmer tendency. The above report was received yesterday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market. Compared with last week’s quotations, Down lamb, 36/421bs, is l-8d per lb lower, wethers u/641bs l-8d per lb lower, with others unchanged. The market on the spot is weaker and the general position continues to be unsatisfactory.
