SERVICE TO EDUCATION

WORK OF MR. W. H. JACKSON. RETIREMENT FROM COLLEGE BOARD. Reference to the splendid service to education given by Mr W. H. Jackson was made at last night’s meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors, following on Mr Jackson’s retirement from the board as the Trust Land Trust representative. Mr W. R. Nicol, charman of the board, said Mr Jackson had been a member of the present and High School boards for ten years and had given his whole life in the interests of education. He was one of the foundation members of the Technical School Board in Masterton, and after his retirement from teaching took up further work in education. He had rendered valuable service, both to the Wairarapa High School,' and the Technical School, and also to Wairarapa College. On account of his health, he had left the district and was at present living in Auckland. Mr Nicol said the members of the board were very sorry that Mr Jackson had found it necessary to retire from the board. He moved that a letter be sent by....the board to Mr Jackson, thanking him for his pasr services. \ Mr L. J. Taylor endorsed Mr Nicol’s remarks, stating that there was no doubt that education had lost a great friend in Mr Jackson.
