SOCIAL SECURITY
REGISTRATIONS AT BRISK RATE. HOURS EXTENDED UNTIL EVENING. “The public has responded remarkably well to suggestion in the ’TimesAge’ that people desiring to register under the Social Security Act should do so in the morning, when business was not usually so brisk,” said the Postmaster, Mr M. M. Simpson, this morning. From opening time this morning, said Mr Simpson, there had been a continual stream of applicants. Mr Simpson stated that until further notice, the hours for registration purposes had been extended until 8 p.m., so as to allow those employed during the day ample time to register. The Post Office would now be open for registrations from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. In order to facilitate the expeditious handling of the registration forms, thus avoiding waiting in queues by the public. it will be an assistance to the Post Office staff if those registering will show their names in block letters and sign and have their signatures witnessed before presenting the forms at the counter.
