LONDON QUOTATIONS BUTTER PRICES STEADY. CHEESE MARKET SLOW. I According to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board the London butter market last week closed steady, with little change in prices on the previous week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: Salted, 114 s (114 s to 115 s; a year ago, 125 s to 1265); unsalted, 118 s (118 s a year ago, 127 s to 128 s). Australian: Salted, 112 s to 113 s (112 s to 113 s); unsalted, 114 s to 115 s (114 s to 115 s). Argentine; Unsalted, 106 s to 108 s. Danish: 105 s f.0.b., 126 s to 127 s spot (105 s 126 s to 1275). Dutch: Unsalted, 109 s to 110 s (105 s to 107 s). Polish: Salted, 109 s (107 s South Africa: 105 s to 109 s (105 s to 109 s). The retail price of New Zealand butter in London remains unchanged at Is 2d a lb, while Danish has been reduced Id to Is 3d. The present wholesale price of 114 s is equal to approximately 13.63 d a lb f.o.b. New Zealand ports, compared with the guaranteed price of 14,89 d a lb f.o.b. The London, equivalent’price of cheese is about 6.7 d a lb. f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d. Deliveries of New Zealand butter from store last week were 1900 tons. The quantity in store, including 19,800 boxes ex the Rangitiki, was 6425 tons, against 5540 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 1115 tons, the quantity in store being 2549 tons, compared with 3937 tons a year ago. Neew Zealand cheese remains at 60s, with the market slow. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, were as follows: — New Zealand: White and coloured, 60s (60s; a year ago, 70s 6d to 71s). Australian: White, 52s to 56s (52s to 565); coloured, 55s to 57s (54s to 575). Canadian: White and coloured, 71s to 74s (70s to 735); old season’s coloured, 82s. English: Finest farmers, 88s to 100 s (88s to 100 s). English: Factory cheese, 60s to 66s (88s to 100 s). South African: White and coloured, 50s to 57s (50s to 545). The retail price of New Zealand cheese is unchanged at 8d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 14,501 crates. The quantity in store was 113,587 compared with 67,209 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 1969 boxes, the quantity in store being 78,546 boxes, against 64,078 boxes a year ago.
