FROZEN MEAT TRADE
LONDON QUOTATIONS LAMB MARKET WEAKER. CHILLED BEEF SLIGHTLY FIRMER. Lamb market: With the exception of prime lightweights, prices shade easier. Consumption good, but heavy spot stocks and low prices beef and mutton depressing market. Mutton market: Wethers, trade slow, prices easier where changed. Ewes, quiet, with prices unchanged. Beef market: Frozen beef, neglected, owing to low prices chilled. Chilled beef, slightly firmer on the good trade, but supplies heavy. New Zealand porker pigs: Trade slow owing to warm weather. New Zealand baconer pigs: Market quiet and unchanged. Boneless nobby veal: Better trade, with firmer tendency. The above report was received yesterday by tne Meat Board, which advises that the following are the ruling prices of Wholesale quantities of the descriptions of frozen meat mentioned, and are for representative parcels of the goods sold on Thursday. Chilled beef prices are averages of the week. All prices are on a basis of delivered to Smithfield market.

Compared with last week’s quotations, down lambs, 361 b to 421 b, and crossbred lambs, 361 b to 421 b, l-8d a lb lower; wethers under 481 b, and 641 b to 721 b, l-8d a lb lower; others unchanged, fhe market continues weak all round. NEW ZEALAND MEAT. RETAIL PRICES IN LONDON. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has been advised by its London Office, that the following retail prices were being quoted for New Zealand lamb and mutton retailed in London during March. These prices represent a fair average of the prices quoted by the better class shops in London for the best quality of New Zealand lamb and mutton: — Lamb: Legs, 12d per lb.; shoulders, lid; loins, lid; necks, 6d; breasts, 3d; forequarters, 8d; hindquarters, 10-Jd. Wethers: Legs, B|d; shoulders, 7£d; loins, 7£d; necks, 3d; breasts, 3d.
