BRIGHTER OUTLOOK

LONDON STOCK MARKET REACTIONS SECURITIES SHOW SOME RECOVERY. CURRENT TRADE TRENDS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, April 21. Encouraged by a growing belief that international tension is waning, speculators have begun to reappear in the markets, but business necessarily is restricted owing to the approach of Budget day. Gilt-edged securities have shown some recovery from the worst levels of the week. Foreign bonds have reflected a brighter feeling, not only in London but in Continental capitals. The selling of gold shares has abated considerably.

-The March trade returns are inconclusive, but while exports are slightly under last year’s level, a large number of exports show encouraging increases, quantities rising as values fall back as a result of price reductions. The capital drift continues to affect sterling.
