Last year the total was £263. RECORD SALES IN WELLINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. With six returns outstanding when the counting of Poppy Day receipts ceased last night it was clear that yesterday’s collection would be a record. By 11 p.m. £1441 13s 3d was in hand, compared with a total collection last year of £1579 and a collection in 1937 of £1474. AUCKLAND FIGURES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) < AUCKLAND, April 21. With collections from five outlying districts still to come, a total of £1970 was received in Auckland as the result of the Poppy Day appeal. It is expected that the full subscriptions will not fall far short of last year’s record yield of £2223. TOTAL IN DUNEDIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, April 21. The Poppy Day collection in the city and suburbs today totalled £1443 16s 2d, with country returns still to come in. The total represents an increase of £2l 9s 8d on last year’s collection.
