NO RELIEF
DROUGHT CONTINUES IN MARLBOROUGH. POSITION OF SOME GRAVITY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, This Day. Marlborough is still awaiting the breaking of the drought, the rains enjoyed by other districts in the past few days having failed to reach here in sufficient quantity to alleviate the situation, which is of some gravity, particularly to the pastoral industry. Farmers are bitterly disappointed at the fact that the fall of the’ past two days amounted only to eight points. This brings the total fall since December 3, a jjeriod of nineteen weeks, 16 only 48 points. The town water supply is still ample, but a shortage of pasturage is now certain during the winter. RAIN IN NORTH AUCKLAND. WHANGAREI, This Day. Long-awaited rain began to fall yesterday afternoon and continues lightly. A fall of .60 was registered up to nine this morning. The weather is xyarm.
