BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. NO REBATE IN OPERA HOUSE RENTALS. The chairman, Mr H. P. Hugo, presided at the monthly meeting of the Trust Lands Trust, held last night Others present were: Messrs E. G. Eton A. O. Jones, H. H. Daniell and J. H. Handyside. “We should make it quite clear that we will not make any rebate in the rental for the Opera House,” stated Mi Hugo when referring to an application by the St. John Ambulance Division for a reduction in the rent charged for the use of the Opera House foi a concert.

The application was declined and i was decided to consider the question of making the Division a grant when the estimates were being framed. Mr G. G. Hancox, Principal of Wairarapa College, wrote thanking the Trustees for making a grant towards the salary, of a part-time librarian.

Letters of thanks for past assistance and applying for grants for the incoming financial year were received from the Plunket Society and the Y.M.C.A. The applications were held over until the estimates meeting.

Rentals for the month amounted to £985 10s. The treasurer reported i credit balance of £1064 16s lid. The Audit Department returned the balance sheet certified as correct. Mr Jones complimented the secretary. M W. B. Yates, on the expeditious manne’ in which he had presented the balance sheet.

Mr Yates was thanked and a letter of appreciation is also to be forward ed to the Audit Department. It was reported that receipts in No 1 Account for the year ended March 3 1 totalled £6510 14s lOd and expenditure £5784 19s lid. Receipts in the Scholarship Accounts amounted to £454 16s 6d and expenditure £l9l 16' 3d. In the Cameron and Soldiers' Memorial Park Account receipts totalled £127 16s Id an<jl expenditure £5l 14s 4d.
