MILITARY ACTION

REALISTIC MANOEUVRES IN BRITAIN FUNCTIONING OF MODERN ARMY CORPS. PLANS FOR NEXT SEPTEMBER. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 19. This year the British Army manoeuvres, which are to be held from about September 15 to 23 will include a strategic road-and-rail move of the First Army Corps from Aidershot to Yorkshire. The purpose of the manoeuvres will be to practice on a large scale the functioning of a modern army corps under conditions approximating as nearly as possible to those of real warfare. The Royal Air Force will co-operate. In order that conditions should be as-realistic as possible, the allied forces, as well as an enemy force, will be represented. The railway companies are co-operating, and special troop trains, as well as special trains carrying petrol, ammunition and food, will run.

Supply is to be practised as in war and will be subject to enemy air action. Strong air forces co-operating with the enemy will attack the strategic move from Aidershot to Yorkshire.

Many distinguished visitors, including the military representatives of the Dominions and foreign nations, will be invited to watch the manoeuvres.
