ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

MEETING OF LADIES’ GUILD. OFFICERS ELECTED. The annual meeting of St Matthew’s Ladies’ Guild was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon. The Rev E. J. Rich presided over a fair attendance of members. The report and balance sheet were received and adopted. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs E. J. Rich; vice-presidents, Mesdames S. Mawley, R. Hatch, E. J. Coleman, T. T. Denbee, Andrew, Birch, and L. B. Maunsell; secretary, Mrs J. M. Aikman; social entertainment committee, Mesdames Burke, Coleman and Judd; buying committee, Mesdames Heath, Hatch, Coleman and Henderson; afternoon tea secretary, Mrs Hatch. The Guild’s activities will open with a social afternoon on Monday, May 1, when it is hoped to have Mr Snell, of the Church of England’s Men’s Society, as the speaker. It was decided to cancel the . annual garden party for this year and to concentrate on one effort, namely the annual sale of work.

The serving of afternoon tea brought the meeting to a close.
