WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
COUNCIL’S FIRST ANNUAL MEETING At-ILKNOON BUSINESS. REPORT BY' MISS WOLTERS. After the luncheon adjournment yesterday the annual meeting of the council of the Wairarapa Federation of Women's Institutes commenced with the Institute song: “Comrades and Friends.”
Miss Wolters gave a very full account of the recent council meeting held in Wellington, which she attended as delegate for the Wairarapa. She spoke on constitutional rules, the Centennial Exhibition, immigration, “Home and Country” journal, and many other matters which were the subject of resolutions passed by the meeting. Miss Wolter’s report was of much value to the listeners, and she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Suggestions were given to the Press reporter (Mrs G. Dagg) to enable members to sirnlify their report to “Home and Country" and to the papers. Miss B. .Coleman, L.T.C.L., gave a lecture and demonstration on “Mime.” She was heartily applauded and thanked for her valuable demonstration and was presented with a shoulder spray. Miss Wolters spoke on the Pan-Paci-fic Conference which is to be held in Wellington in 1940. Afternoon tea was then served. This took the form of a social half-hour, giving members an opportunity to become known to one another. A dinner, which was drawn for in aid of Federation funds was won by Mrs K. Gallon, of the Matarawa—Dalefield Women’s Institute. Thanks were extended to the president, and to all who had helped to make the meeting such a successful and happy one. The singing cf the National anthem brought the meeting to a-close.
