FEDERATION ANNUAL REPORT ACTION IN IHE EVENT OF AGGRESSION. COMMENT ON EMPIRE POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received'This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 19. Mr Peter Bennett has been re-elected president of the Federation of British Industries. The annual report stated that events had checked an upward tendency in trade. The report continued:. “In the event of aggression, industrialists would rally to the Government, and would not shrink from whatever mignt be necessary to protect liberty. Farreaching arrangements had been made to enable a continuance of civil and industrial life in any emergency. Measures for security are further advanced than pessimists have suggested.” The Federation, it was added, realised the importance of Empire trade. It was difficult to reconcile the industrial aspirations of different members in the British Commonwealth of Nations. They might not be content with the new Indian agreement and might not like New Zealand’s policy, but they realised that the Empire was the world’s greatest trading entity and believed it to be to the advantage of each part that mutual trade should be developed to the utmost.
