NEW ROOF

FOR MASTERTON NURSES’ HOME. HOSPITAL BOARD DECISION. The Wairarapa Hospital Board decided at its meeting today to have a new roof put on the Nurses’ Home at the Masterton Hospital. For some time past considerable trouble has been caused by water leaking through the roof and recently a special meeting of the Finance Committee was held to investigate the matter. As a result of the recommendation of the committee, it was decided to allow the contractors to renew the roof at a cost of £2lO, to which the board will contribute £l5O. The chairman, Mr H. H. Mawley, said the present roof was of a type that could not be made waterproof. He did not know who was at fault, but it was contained in the specifications. It was far better to built a new root than to go on repairing the old one indefinitely. The new roof would be ol a water-proof type, and would carry a ten years’ guarantee. ,
