LONDON QUOTATIONS BUTTER MARKET EASIER. CHEESE PRICES STEADY. London prices for Continental butters were definitely easier last week, with a' sharp decline of 6s a cWt for Danish and 3s to 4s for Dutch. New Zealand salted was a' shade firmer at fl4’s to 115 s a cwt. According to the cabled report supplied by the Primary Products Marketing Department to the Dairy Board, there was an improved demand at the end of the week. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses, Were as follows: New Zealand: Salted, 114 s to 115 s (114 s a year ago, 121 to 1235); un'salted, 118 s (118 s a year ago, 123 s to 1245). 1 Australian: Salted 112' to 113 sup to 114 s (113 s Unsalted, 114 s to 115s' (114 s to 115 s). Danish: 105 s; 126 s to 127 s spot (Ills; ■l32s to 1335). Dutch: Unsalted, 105 s to 107 s ex 110 s (109 s to Ills). Lithuanian: Unsalted, 112 s to 114 s ' (114 s to 115 s) . Polish: Salted. 107 s (109 s to 110 s); unsalted, 107 s (110 s South Africa: 105 s to 109 s, ex 110 s (106 s to 110 s).
: The retail price of New Zealand but--1 ter ill' London is Is 2d a lb and that of Danish, Is 4d. The present wholesale price of 114 s '6d is equal to approximately 13.68 d a lb., f.0.b., New Zealand ports, compar- • ef with the guaranteed price of 14.89 d a lb, f.o.b. The London equivalent of ithe guaranteed price is 124 s 3d a cwt. The equivalent price of cheese is about 6.7 d a' lb f.0.b., compared with the guaranteed price of 8.42 d. Deliveries of New Zealand butter .from store last week were 1325 tons. The quantity in store, including 375 tons ex Port Dunedin and Wairangi, was 5'977 tons, as against 5335 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter last week were 1337 tons, the, quantity in Store being 2851 tons, com.pared with 3586 tons a year ago. The New Zealand cheese market is unchanged at 60s a cwt, which is 10s a cwt below the price ruling 12 months ago. Friday’s closing quotations, with those of the previous week in parentheses; were as follows:— New Zealand: White and coloured, 60s (60s; a year ago, white 70s, coloured, 70s 6d). Australian: White, 52s to 56s (52s to 555); coloured’, 54s to 575, ex 58s (not quoted). Canadian': White, 70s to 74s (71s to 73's)'; coloured, 70s to 73’s (71s to 735). English: Finest farmers, 88s to 100 s (88‘s to 100 s). South African: White, 50s' to 565; coloured; 50s to 545. The retail price of New Zealand cheese is unchanged at 8d a ! lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese from store last week were 12,316 Crate's. The' quantity in store, including 5542 crates ex the Wairangi. is 100,72'3 crates, compared with 70,782 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 4117 boxes, the quantity in store being 81,516 boxes, as against 66,074 boxes a year ago.
