The opinion that the tour would be the first of several to be made to New Zealand and Australia was expressed by Mr Charles Bayer, leader of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce goodwill tour to New Zealand and Australia. when he passed through Auckland by the Mariposa on his way back to San Francisco with 38 of his party of 51. The remaining 13, he said, had stayed in Melbourne, and would make a month’s visit to New Zealand before going back to- the United States. Mr Bayer said the party had been most impressed, not only by the courtesy and hospitality extended to them wherever they went, but also by what they had seen. The tour had been such a success that he hoped it would be the forerunner of a regular interchange of visits by parties from the three countries. His chamber was also very keen to act as host for a party from the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce, and he hoped such a visit Would be possible this year.
