WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MEETING AT GLADSTONE.
COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age" Special.) Mrs Percy Cooper presided at the April meeting of the Gladstone Women’s Institute, the president (Mrs N. McKay} being unavoidably absent. A very interesting paper on China, was read by Miss Turley, this being the first of a series of talks on "Countries of the Pacific.” Some interesting articles of Chinese origin were exhibited by members and the appropriate roll call for the day was "Something About China.” A most instructive demonstration of pewter work was given by Mrs Caseley, who was cordially thanked and presented with a shoulder spray. Arrangements were made for providing morning and afternoon tea at the forthcoming council meeting, at which Gladstone will be the hostess Institute. The competition winners were:— Bloom: Miss C. Cooper, 1; Mrs Riddell, 2. Decorated Easter egg: Mrs W. Bubb, 1; Mrs Wyeth, 2. The hostesses for the day were Mesdames Bradley, Cave, Henderson, Crewe, Misses Crewe and A. Bubb.
