TRAIN NO. 15

FASTEST IN THE WORLD. Train No 15, which at present covers the distance between Paris and Bordeaux, 365 miles, in 6 hours 15 minutes, with half a dozen stops, will soon cover this stretch of country without a stop in 5 hours and thus carry off the title of the world’s fastest train. This will represent a speed, for the whole run, of 73 miles an hour. The power of the electric locomotive that drtlws the French flyer is 4,000 h.p„ obtained by four motors. Eighty miles an hour is cofnfortably within its possibilities and it could run safely at 100 miles an hour.

In spite of the high speed, the nonstop journey between Paris and Bordeaux of 365 miles will be perfectly safe one. The engine driver will have to pay attention to 350 signals.
