Mr Louw introduced a Bill with the object of preventing further Jewish immigration, asserting that if South Africa did not tackle the problem occurrences in certain European countries would be repeated in that country. South Africa’s proportion of Jewish inhabitants was the fourth highest in the world, 5 per cent, which Jewish leaders, it was stated, admitted was the danger line.
