WAIRARAPA UNION. NOMINATION OF TEAMS. The chairman (Mr H. A. McPhee) presided at a meeting of the management committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union held at Carterton. Others present were Messrs K. G. Fairbrother M. Parker, C. Gray, H. Benge, K. Reid, L. Pearson, E. B. Booth, S. Henson, V. Welch, and the secretary, Mr E. McKenzie. The Primary Schools’ Union was granted the use of Rugby Park on week days for training. The work of putting the Featherston grounds in order was left in the hands of Mr Benge, and the terms of rental of £5 or 15 per cent of the takings, which ever are the greater, were accepted. The following nominations of teams for the championship competitions were received: —Featherston: Junior and third ’grades. Dalefield: Third grade. Martinborough: Junior, third and fourth grades. Old Boys: Senior, junior and third grades. Red Star: Senior, junior and third grade. Masterton: Senior, junior, third and fourth grade. Gladstone: Senior and third grade. Greytown: Senior, junior and third grade. .Carterton: Senior, junior, third and fourth grade. The following transfers were granted (subject in some cases to clearance): — L. S. Foreman, from Old Boys to Gladstone; H. R. Frew, from Martinborough to Featherston; V. C. Bargh, from Grey town to Featherston; R. Houghton, from Martinborough to Featherston; J. A. Fraser, from Greytown to Featherston (the last four were also granted re-instatement to junior): G. Colquhoun, from Old Boys to Gladstone. The following Martinborough players were re-instated to junior:—G. Brasell, F. Brasell, J. Brasell, F. Spiers, D. Ross and D. McGaffin. The Marlborough Rugby Union advised that its representative team would be touring the North Island, and asked if the Wairarapa team would play a match at Masterton on June 17. The Union also asked if the local Union would give a guarantee for expenses.—lt was decided to leave the matter to the delegates to the N.Z.R.U., and it was made clear that no guarantee would be considered. Mr K. Fairbrother was elected vicechairman on a show of hands. Messrs McKenzie and Gray were appointed to the Referees’ Appointment Committee. The chairman, vice-chairman and secretary .were appointed a finance committee. Messrs Parker, Fairbrother and McPhee were appointed the fixtures committee.
