FOREIGNERS IN SPAIN
BRITISH PREMIER CRITICISED IN BURGOS not unilateral question. ASSERTION OF INDEPENDENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.25 p.m.) BURGOS, April 14. Official circles do not welcome Mr Chamberlain’s reference to the withdrawal of Italians, declaring that it is not a unilateral question between Britain and Italy. It is an offence to Spanish feelings to forget that General Franco never broke his word. He promised that foreigners would be withdrawn after his victory. Spanish pride is not taken into account if it is supposed that Spain is submitting to, or following blindly, any country, even one to which it is closely attached. Spain is independent and does not need protection. It has the strength and right to carry out a Spanish policy. VICTORY PARADE POSTPONED INDEFINITELY. (Received This Dav. 1.0 p.m.) PARIS. April 14. The Agence Radio, from Madrid, says the victory parade has been indefinitely postponed.
