SOCIAL SECURITY
REGISTRATION OF WOMEN AND YOUTHS. BIG TASK FOR MASTERTON POST OFFICE STAFF. Social Security is a matter that is claiming considerable attention at the present time, as it is necessary for all youths and girls from 16 to 20 years and all women to register before the end of this month. The Masterton Post Office staff is being kept pretty busy at present attending to registrations. Up to this morning about 650 women and ■220 youths had been registered, but as the authorities expect the total registrations at Masterton to reach about 4500, if not more, it will be seen that the staff has a still busier time ahead. The provisions of the Act require registrations to be made by April 30. The 5s Social Security registration fee is payable at time of registration, if it is desired, but in any case has to be paid before the end of May. A declaration of income other than salary and wages has also to be furnished before May 31. . All male old age pensioners who have surrendered their coupon books have to apply for another book and female pensioners have to register and obtain a coupon book. Pensioners applying for exemption of payment of the Social Security fee require to do so within seven days of June 1.
