COLLEGE OLD GIRLS
MEETING OF* ASSOCIATION. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SOCIAL EVENING. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa High School Old Girls’ Association was., held last night in the College Library, the president, Miss N. Eoddington presiding over a representative attendance of members. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mrs G. G. Hancox; president, Miss N. Boddington; vice-presi-dent, Miss O. R. Sutherland; committee, JVlisses A. Petersen and L. Wells (with power to add); hon secretary and treasurer:, Miss P. Hubbard. The name of the association was altered to the Wairarapa College Old Girls’ Association, in the hope of interesting all old girls of the High School, Technical School and College. Arrangements were made to hold the first social evening of the year at the home of Miss N. Boddington, Short Street, on Monday, April 24, at 7.30 p.m. All members and intending members are cordially invited to be present. The annual report, presented to the meeting by Miss Boddington, recorded another successful year both socially and financially. “Our membership is not very large,” states the report, “but the girls who are members seem to be really interested in the association, and its activities. Each year girls leave the district, and so we lose them from the association, but fortunately new members join who help to keep our numbers up. It was decided last year to retain the name of Wairarapa High School Old Girls’ Association, as there were'not yet any old girls of'Wairarapa College, but now the time has come when we must consider changing the ’ title of the Association. 'lt was decided to again hold the social evenings at some of the members’ homes. We were grateful to the girls who put their homes at our disposal where we enjoyed varied programmes of music, play reading and competitions. During the year we were entertained by our Patron, Mrs G. G. Hancox, to an enjoyable evening at College House, and we also spent an enjoyable evening as the guests of Miss O. R. Sutherland, one of our vicepresidents. At the invitation of Mr Hancox, a party of Old Girls visited the College one evening. The “tour” conducted by Mr Hancox proved very interesting, and we were able ? to note the wonderful improvements since our own school days. The tour ended at the flat, where we were greeted by Mrs Hancox, who served a delicious supper. Our year's activities ended with a picture party followed by supper at the Country Women’s Club. Our money again this year has been used to give pleasure and help to others; It was a pleasure to the Association to present the set of books for the College Library, which was so gratefully acknowledged by Mr Hancox, and the College Board. Donations were gjyen to the Health Camp Fund for Children and the Christmas Cheer Fund for the Lepers. We thank our honorary secretary for her help and interest in the Association, and our thanks are also due to all who helped to make the season a happy one.”'
