BADMINTON

ST MATTHEW’S CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. The president (Rev E. J. Rich), presided over the fourth annual meeting of St Matthew’s Badminton Club held in the Parish Hall last evening. The report and balance sheet were adopted, the finances of the club being reported to be in a healthy condition. The official opening of the season was fixed for Monday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Members and intending members are requested to be present and an enjoyable night's sport will be provided. A Yankee tournament will be arranged. The election of officers resulted as follows: President: The Rev E. J. Rich; vice-presidents, the Rev T. V. Pearson and Mr V. Joblin; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. J. Carle; club captain, Mr N. Ninnes. The committee and delegates to the Wairarapa Badminton Association will be appointed at a meeting on the opening. night. A vote of thanks was carried by acclamation to the retiring secretary, Mr N. Ninnes, for his able services. The meeting closed, after an informal discussion on club matters, with a hearty vote of thanks to the Chair--man. ... „ .
