CHINESE GAINS
ATTACKS MADE AT MANY POINTS THREAT TO COMMUNICATIONS. JAPANESE PLANNING DRIVE. By Telegrpph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, April 11. The Chinese Embassy, reporting on successes in Central and South China, announces that the Chinese have driven the Japanese twelve miles eastward from Kaoan, in North Kaingsi. A Chinese flying column attacked Fenghsin. The Japanese are now reinforced and apparently are planning a retaliatory drive towards Changsha. Chinese efforts in Central Hupeh threaten to sever the Japanese communications, after the recapture of Tienshatien and Huangchiatsi, while the Chinese southern advance has reached Shihching, ten miles from Canton.
