AUSTRALIAN RACING

THIRD DAY AT RANDWICK, ALL AGED PLATE TO AJAX. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, April 12. ' The tit-bit of the third day’s racing at Randwick was the reappearance of Ajax, who rehabilitated himself by winning in good style the All Aged Plate, after making his own pace throughout. He covered the mile in 1.355, which is a quarter of a second outside the Australia and New Zealand record. The much-fancied Gold Rod was well beaten. High Caste also returned to prestige when he triumphed in the Champagne Stakes over those, speedsters Reading, Waireka, and Penthides, but the position might have been different had Bonny Loch not been left at the barrier. High Caste was fully extendedto win because of getting away too slowly from the barrier. Spear Chief deservedly won the Cumberland Plate in a spirited finish with Allunga. The weather was pleasant, and the course was in splendid order. There was a record third day attendance of 28,000.
