TE WHARAU

(“Times-Age” Special.) The annual golf tournament, which was a two-day fixture this year, was held during Easter, there being a good number of entries, including quite a few players from outside clubs. Two events were played, the East Coast championship both for ladies and men and the Easter handicap also for ladies and men. On Saturday the qualifying rounds were played, those qualifying were Messrs C. Judd, E. Nitz, H. Paku, M. Paku, W. Kummer and J. Bartholomew, and Mrs Schofield, Mrs Read, Miss P. Schofield and Miss N. Bannister, who contested the men’s and ladies' championships, respectively. Those who could not make the grade competed in the Easter handicap, all matches being played over 36 holes. The following are the results:— East Coast championship.— Ladies: Miss P. Schofield, 1; Mrs Schofield, 2. Men: C. Judd (Lansdowne), 1; H. Paku (Te Wharau), 2. . Easter handicap,—Men: A. McGregor, 1- R Vennell, 2. Ladies: Mrs A. McGregor, 1; Mrs R. L. McKinstry, 2. At the conclusion of play the prizes were presented to the winners by the president (Mr S. Gray) who thanked the players for their patronage and the interest .they had shown in the tournament. ~ „ , , Next Saturday a Stableford bogey will be played, commencing at the usual time.
