NEW SPAIN

SIR M. PETERSON PRESENTS CREDENTIALS GENERAL FRANCO'S CLAIM SERVICE GIVEN TO WORLD. I , (Received. This Day, 10.55 a.m.) BURGOS, April 11. Sir M. Peterson, presenting his credentials to General Franco, said: "I come to a new Spain. After the years of suffering through which she has passed, Spain merits world-wide sympathy." General Franco replied: “The new Spain with which you are about to be acquainted rises strong after giving service to the world by defeating international Bolshevism and rescuing faith in civilisation.” General Franco added: “Spain is conscious of its historic responsibilities and in renewing its relations with countries like Britain,, to which it is bound by ties of friendship based geographically, Spain is certain of recognition of her great sacrifices, and of loyal and sympathetic friendship in plans for the future. With this spirit you will find on my part the sincerest collaboration.”
