At Riccarton Cocksuie won the Great Easter Handicap in a brilliant manner and in record time. At Ellerslie Beaupartir won the Great Northern St Leger from end to end. Lady Montana scored comfortably in the Autumn Handi- • cap at Tauherenikau while Wildflower brought off a surprise win in the Easter Handicap at Feilding. In the Sydney Cup at Randwick Defaulter ran a disappointing race and was never dangerous, finishing second to last. Hie race was won by the New Zealand bred Mosaic, a course record being established.
