Miss Avice Petersen, of Essex Street, Masterton, who was the guest of Mrs C. Brooks, Palmerston North, during Easter, has returned home.
Miss Leah Johnston and Miss Mulvey, of Masterton, are visitors from Masterton for the Napier musical and elocutionary competitions.
Miss Downes, of the teaching staff of Opunake High School, was the guest of Mrs J. Mackenzie, Eurnbrae, East Taratahi, for Easter. Mr and Mrs Lionel Latham have returned to Wellington aftei’ having-spent the Easter vacation with Mrs Brenkley, of Renall Street, Masterton.
Mrs Chas Holdaway, Ballance, has returned home after a visit to Hawke’s Bay, where she was the guest of Mr and Mrs D. D. Frame, Hastings. The anniversary celebrated on Sunday by Mr and.. Mrs J. F. Ward, of Masterton, was: that of their diamond wedding, not their golden wedding as previously stated.
Mr and Mrs James Wilton and Miss Lois Wilton, of Wellington, are visiting Mr and Mrs Stephen Tankersley, of Matahiwi. Mr and Mrs Ball, of Hastings, are also the guests of Mr and Mrs Tankersley. Mrs A. Illingworth and family, of Patea, and Misses Mollie and Peggy Iggulden, of Hamilton, are the guests of Mr and Mrs S.'E. Taylor, of Essex Street, Masterton. Miss Nancy Payton. whose marriage takes place tomorrow night, was entertained at a delightful cocktail party yesterday at the' residence of Dr. and Mrs Archer Hosking. The hostesses were Misses Lois Hosking, Nan Rishworth and Mary Logan. ENGAGEMENT STEVENS—KNOWLES. The engagement is announced of Evelyn, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Knowles, Masterton, to Robert, only son of Mr and the late Mrs R. S. Stevens, Masterton.
