COMMENT ON RACING SAKI WINS WELL. The Opaki-trained Saki scored a convincing win in the Moroa Hack. Once the field settled down, Mother-in-Law had charge from Lady Lyric, Saki and Floral Robe. There was little alteration to the home turn, where Saki hit the front. Floral Robe challenged at the distance but Jenkins shook up Saki and he stayed on to win by a length from Floral Robe, with Mother-in-Law three lengths away third. DISSIPATION SCORES. Wakarara and Beagle were the early leaders in the Novice Stakes, but on passing the 5 furlong post, Lady Baron rushed to the front and opened a big gap from Wakarara. Beagle and Royal Show. Dissipation improved her position at the hottie turn and when

the field straightened up she came away splendidly to win by half a length from Etzel. who was well back over the early stages of the race. Wakarara was a length away third,, and then came Lady Baron. AN EXCITING FINISH. Dancing Elame tried to Win the Ruamahanga Highweight Handicap all the way but after leading into the straight she faded out completely. Maturity, Happy Heels and Ruling Star were tucked in behind Dancing Flame over most of the journey, but the field bunched into the straight and an exciting finish ensued. Ruling Star came through at the distance and withstood determined challenges by Happy Heels and Rarotonga to win by half a length. Rarotonga, who came from the rear of the field, was third a length behind Happy Heels. LADY MONTANA IMPROVES. Never further back in the running than third, Lady Montana wore down Galteemore and Trebor in the straight to win the Autumn Handicap by a length and a half. Good Sun came from last to collect second money half a length in front of Trebor. Galteemore was a moderate fourth and Mea Mea was never really in the hunt. FAVOURITE BEATEN. Counter was a hot favourite for the Juvenile Handicap but Heroic Maid, who made most of the running, stayed on better in the run to the post and won by half a length. Kehua was five lengths back third. The race was marred by an accident, Loyal Queen falling and bringing down Gothic. HAPPY HEELS SCORES. Having his second outing on the day Happy Heels won the Rototawai Handicap after an exciting finish with Hinerawe. He hit the front at the mile post and stayed on remarkably well, withstanding a determined challenge by Hinerawe in the straight. Windsor Chief was always placed handily and he held on for third money half a length away. Then came Reay Bridge and Larwood. CONVINCING WIN. The Gisborne trained Bold Step repeated his first day’s performance when he scored a convincing win in the Tauherenikau Handicap. Mister Quex and Silver River made the early running with Gay Chou and Export showing up. When the straight was reached Bold Step came with a rattle and gave the others no chance. Silver River finished second a length and a half away and then came Mister Quex and Export. WON ALL THE WAY. I Deficit won 'the Pihautea Handicap all the way.
