BRITAIN TO OPPOSE ANY ATTEMPT ON GREECE
Ominous Action Taken by Germany OFFICIALS IN LONDON AND PARIS ORDERED HOME By Telegraph.—Press Association • -Copyright. ; LONDON, April 10. ' It 'is understood that the British Ambassador in Paris, Sir Erie Phipps, in the course of talks last night with the French Prime Minister, M. Daladier, and the Foreign Secretary, M. Bonnet, informed them that Britain intends immediately to warn Italy through Lord Perth, Ambassador in Rome, that she is ready to oppose any attempt against Greece, particularly Corfu. According to the French Press the German Embassies and Consulates in London and Paris have been ordered to send back to Germany as quickly as possible all officials who are not absolutely indispensable.
The Paris newspaper “I’Oeuvre” says that the object of this move is to evacuate from the two capitals the greatest number of Germans possible.
