TO DISCARD CAPS
MAIDS IN BRITAIN. The British maid, after three centuries has won a battle. She has discarded her cap. The National Union of Domestic Workers has laid down this rule: “The wearing of caps should not be required.” The union has laid down some other rules, too. One is that maids should have contracts. Another is that the contract should state the precise name by which the maid wishes to be addressed.
