FOOTBALL

GLADSTONE BEAT MIRAMAR. One point separated Gladstone and Miramar in their match on Athletic Park on Saturday. Both teams showed plenty of early-season enthusiasm but lacked combination. Gladstone led 9-5 at half-time. Tries were scored by Wyeth and Brannock, neither being converted, and Henderson kicked a penalty gold; R. Baird scored for Miramar, Grant converting. In the second spell, T. Bubb scored for Gladstone and Henderson added another penalty goal. For Miramar Morgan and Spurway scored and Greenall kicked, a penalty goal. Gladstone won by 15 points to 14. Mr H. B. Simmonds was referee.
