KING ZOG FLEES
ARRIVAL IN GREECE TRAGIC FLIGHT OF QUEEN GERALDINE. “WORLD MUST DO SOMETHING FOR ALBANIA.” By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright FLORINA (Greece), April 8. King Zog arrived here today ostensibly to visit Queen Geraldine, accompanied by 30 officers, who were dishevelled and unshaven, and a number of high civil servants and women. King Zog wearing civilian clothes, looked strained and weary. “The world must do something for my Albania,” declared Queen Geraldine yesterday from her hotel sickbed in a message which King Zog asked her to give to the world when she reached a place of sanctuary. Queen Geraldine’s grandmother, Madame Denka, today recounted the nightmare journey of 18 hours to Florina. She said: “Though the Queen was still ill after the birth of her child, King Zog decided that she must leave. She pleaded unsuccessfully to be allowed to remain at his side. “As we hurriedly packed, Italian aeroplanes were flying over Tirana dropping leaflets. The King was already at the front directing resistance outside Durazzo. Our party included all King Zog’s sisters and the wives and children of members of the Cabinet.” QUEEN’S HEALTH. REPORTED AS SATISFACTORY. (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) SALONIKA, April 9. Queen Geraldine's health is satisfactory. KING LEAVING GREECE. FOR ANOTHER FOREIGN COUNTRY ATHENS. April 9. King Zog has arrived at Salonica, to which place the Queen had preceded him. King Zog told the authorities at Florina that he would shortly be leaving Greece for another foreign country.
