INFORMATION SOUGHT.

(The Editor) Sir, —An exceptionally brilliant meteor passed over the North Island about nine o'clock on the night of April 3, creating loud detonations in the middle of the island. Such an event is of importance astronomically, and also has bearing on meteorology and other sciences. May I ask those of your readers who witnessed the phenomenon to communicate their observations to me, to enable a proper investigation to be made. The points particularly required are the points in the sky where the meteor was first seen and disappeared (which can be described in relation to the stars, by compass bearings or landmarks), a full description of its appearance and brightness, the duration of the phenomenon and, where noises were heard, a description of these and an estimate of the time which elapsed between the appearance of the meteor, and the occurrence of the noise. —I am, etc., R. A. McINTOSH, F.R.A.S. 1 Melford Street, Auckland, W.l.
