INTERPROVI NCI A L EIGHTS. WANGANUI’S UNBEATEN RECORD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.). . DUNEDIN. April 8. The Inter-Provincial Eights were held under perfect conditions, with glassy water, over a three mile course. Otago led from a good start, followed by Wanganui, Wellington and Canterbury, with Southland failing. The four first crews fought it out until the last mile, Southland being a bad last. Near the finish Otago were heading Wanganui, the title-holders, but the northern crew sprinted to win by a canvas. Otago were second and Wellington third two lengths away. Then came Canterbury four lengths away and Southland eight lengths back. The lime was 18min. 7£secs. Wanganui’s win maintained three years’ unbeaten record. The water was slightly rougher for the Varsity eights, which were won by Otago. Canterbury led from half-way but lost at the finish by three feet. Victoria were third. and Auckland fourth.
