TABLE TENNIS CLUB. ("Times-Age” Special.) The following is the Mauricevil East Table Tennis Club’s report to I presented at the annual meeting to I held on Tuesday, April 11: —Your con mittee have much pleasure in presen ing the annual report and balanc sheet for the season 1938. The pa season has been a very successful on both socially and financially, the ba ance sheet showing a credit of £l3 I Id, an increase of £1 3s 7d over th previous year. The standard of pla continues to improve, and although n titles were gained in the A grade c the Wairarapa championships, Mr C McGovern was successful in winnin the B grade men’s singles and we offe him our heartiest congratulations. W also congratulate the following playei in gaining representative honoursyMis ■ J. McGovern, Messrs W. Day, R. Clarki , G. Fraser and H. and N. Myers. The club championships were agai ’ keenly contested, and it was noticeabl in these games that the visit to th Wairarapa of the Hungarian player had considerably improved the tech nique of several of our members. T one of our members, Mr H. Myers, w extend our congratulations on puttin, up an excellent showing against sucl world famous players as the Hungarians. The prospects for the comin; season are very bright, quite a num ber of new and old players have signi fled their intention of joining ou club. We wish to take this opportunity o thanking the many donors of trophie; presented to the club for competition to the ladies and men’s committee fo: the very able manner in which they or ganised various functions held anc members generally for their co-opera tion without which no club can be sue cessful. We also wish to thank the Press for their liberal publicity accord' ed our club. Personal. Miss R. Goddard is the guest of Mrs C. Palmer, Mauriceville West. Misses N. and M. Freeman, of Wellington, are spending the holidays al their home in Mauriceville.
